Hi,

I have a question about this IMU, how is it wired to the autopilot(twog in my
case)? I suppose it is needed the carrier board…

Has it been tested yet?

What steps must be followed to make it run? Is it only modifying airframe
firmware definitions?

Thanks

Hi,

As far as I know there is no AspirinIMU support for the older autopilots like
TINY and TWOG yet. There are drivers for Lisa/L that you can use there. It may
need some work. I don't know what exactly has to be done though to get Aspirin
run on TWOG, I don't have one and never used one. :) You will definitely need
an SPI and an I2C interface.

Is it true then that JobyRobotics will only support hardware from
JobyRobotics and not Paparazzi Open Source hardware?

Hi David,

the question is what you understand by support.
They can generally be seen as a provider of hardware, so they will support what
they sell for the people that buy it (when it comes to hardware problems).
Everything more would be nice, of course...

Regarding software, anybody can write a driver for e.g. Aspirin on a TWOG. The
driver for Lisa could be the base. Thatīs the work for the community. Thatīs
what Piotr probably meant by "no support yet".

So letīs work on that or everything else what will bring the system ahead.

Regarding the discussion on open source hardware I think (more then :-)
everything has been said on DIY-Drones:

Hello,

I am not trying to antagonize, just if I bought an aspirin imu it would be to
use on a TWOG or Tiny.

It affects my purchase decision knowing this so thank you for the
clarification.

Calm down, David. I'm sure there will be an aspirin driver for LPC2148 soon.

wonder if I should buy an aspirin for my TWOG or not.

Hi,

I believe you that you did not mean it the way it got perceived. :)

We currently don't have the resources to back port the Lisa/L aspirin driver to
the other platforms. It should still be a straight forward process, as the
driver itself is not hardware dependent and is using the underlying spi and i2c
drivers.

Hi,

I agree with David that as much information as possible should be given to
a paying customer upfront.

HOWEVER. This is not a windows products shopping spree. This a DIY area
experimental hardware. Description pretty much stated what it is and even
lists accel, gyto, etc chips used in this board. Interfaces are also listed.
Thats all you need. pretty much.

Sure, there is a little note that it is compartible with Lisa/L and there is
a reference to a paparazzi page. In my opinion, this is what confuses us most
of us. We would immediately conclude that this is "paparazzi compatible". But
there is no such a thing. Simply put, some hardware was already used by fellow
paparazzi-ers and they made some code for it.

In my opinion, paparazzi is not even ardupilot, it is more involving and more
demanding. more technical if you want. And this is how I like it.

Well, sorry for rant. I am done :)

Sincerely,
Roman Krashanitsa
