Hi everyone,

Today at CMAC we tested the engine on the Beaver. After some troubleshooting
we got it working quite well. The Beaver is close to being complete - it
still needs a few more servos installed and frames installed for the APM and
Pandaboard packages.

We had a discussion at length regarding how best to spend the next ~6 weeks
worth of UAV testing time, in order to satisfy Deliverable 3. We came to the
conclusion that (given the lack of time until the D3 due date) we should
install the APM in the Cybermugin ASAP and focus of tuning/flying it every
weekend. Where possible, we'll install the Pandaboard/Camera package to get
photos under a variety of lighting conditions.

D3 is due 15th August (3rd Wednesday of August). This gives us 7 weekends of
testing.

The requirements for D3 are:

Flight log (and GPS telemetry) demonstrating 5 hours autonomous flight (does
not include the time taken to tune the autopilot)

This must include at least 1 flight of a duration in excess of 30 min

A video (max of 5 min duration) showing the UAV in autonomous flight and the
operational ground station

10 or more static images of the UAV, ground station and team members during
flight operations, from a number of flights

They also require a number of technical characteristics of our radio links
and airframe. The full list is on page 32 of The Rules (v1.4). Most of these
characteristics are already known to us.

Thanks

Stephen
