MP3.com and BMG Entertainment Settle Copyright Infringement Suit

Settlement Satisfies Demands of Both Copyright Protection and Music Fans BMG Grants Music License for Use in My.MP3.com

SAN DIEGO and NEW YORK -- June 9, 2000 -- MP3.com and BMG Entertainment have reached a settlement in their copyright infringement suit, the two companies announced today. Additionally, BMG has announced that it has granted MP3.com a license to use its catalogue of music in My.MP3.com, an online service allowing consumers to store and replay music that they previously purchased. Terms were not disclosed.

The settlement and license agreement together represent a significant step for BMG to enforce music copyrights and protect its artists' rights online. Furthermore, the development signals a new working relationship between BMG and MP3.com, whereby consumers are certain to experience new and innovative ways to listen to their music from the vast pool of BMG artists.
