Lycos Search Marketing Platform Expands With One-Step Submission To Multiple Indexes And Sophisticated Online Reporting

Lycos InSite ™ 2.0 Provides Customers with Ability to Submit to FAST- and Inktomi-Powered Indexes for Paid Inclusion Services through a New Agreement with Position Technologies Inc.

WALTHAM, Mass.– November 11, 2002 -- Terra Lycos (NASDAQ: TRLY and Madrid Exchange: TRR), the largest global Internet network, today announced the launch of Lycos InSite™ 2.0, an expansion of its highly successful search marketing platform that provides greater functionality for businesses to manage the visibility of their Web sites in the results of high-traffic search engines. Lycos InSite (http://insite.lycos.com) now allows customers to submit their Web sites for paid inclusion in the InktomiŽ search index in addition to inclusion in the FAST™ index, announced earlier this year. Lycos InSite also now gives customers rapid performance feedback with new detailed online reporting capabilities including click-tracking, enabling Web marketers to identify the search terms that bring user traffic to their sites, and to optimize their site's position within the search engines' results catalogs. .

Lycos has teamed with Position Technologies to provide the technology that enables Web site owners to submit their content into multiple search engines and monitor search campaigns with sophisticated click-tracking reporting features.

Lycos launched its paid inclusion service, under the InSite brand, in February 2002. To date, tens of thousands of paid customers use InSite so that their sites are included and frequently refreshed in Lycos' search index . When InSite customers use the new platform to submit their Web sites to both FAST and Inktomi the service will manage paid inclusion programs covering 63% of the domestic search traffic, including both Lycos Search and HotBot. The cost of Web site submission to FAST is $35 for the first URL and $15 for additional URLs. The cost of submitting to Inktomi is $39 for the first URL and $29 for additional URLs.

As part of the agreement, Position Technologies will also private label their PositionPro service, which analyzes Web sites and helps optimize site content for increased search engine rankings. The PositionPro product price varies depending upon the number of Web pages submitted.

"Lycos has enjoyed tremendous success with InSite, and this exclusive agreement rapidly accelerates our initiative to provide Web marketers with a single dashboard to manage their entire search marketing campaign," said Tom Wilde, general manager of search for Lycos . "Position Technologies' expertise in the search marketing category adds tremendous depth to our paid inclusion business and we are very excited to be working with them ."

Search marketing has quickly proven to be a cost-effective way to drive highly qualified traffic to Web sites. "The tools now available in Lycos InSite will enable customers to closely monitor traffic in order to maximize the return on their investments. We look forward to extending our product and capabilities to the Lycos InSite™ user base," said Jim Stob, CEO of Position Technologies. Position Technologies will also make consulting services available to InSite customers to help improve their search rankings.
