Consulting Services Leverage VA's Systems & Software Expertise

September 28, 1999

VA Linux Systems (VA) today announced the launch of its Professional Services Group, which will provide businesses with Linux consulting and customization services. The Professional Services Group thus extends VA Linux Systems' current offerings in Linux systems and support, giving customers a single point of contact for complete Linux solutions.

VA Linux Systems' Professional Services Group will offer its Linux expertise in five areas: architecture and planning; deployment and installation; systems integration (including open source product implementation); performance analysis; and security consulting.

"Our goal is to make our customers successful with Linux by offering ongoing access to VA Linux expertise," said John T. Hall, VA Linux Systems' vice president of support and professional services. "Our focus on systems gives us unique knowledge of our customers' entire Linux environment."

VA's Professional Services Group is comprised of a highly skilled and experienced team including Linux experts such as Ben Woodard, co-developer of the Cisco Enterprise Print System (CEPS), developed by Woodard while he was a system administrator for Cisco. Woodard is also co-developer of Bastille-Linux, a Linux distribution focused on security. Also joining the Professional Services team is Don Marti, an experienced consultant and co-founder of Electric Lichen, a Linux consulting and marketing company acquired by VA Linux Systems earlier this year.

VA's Professional Services Group is part of VA Linux Services, which includes VA Linux Systems' Technical Support and Customer Service groups. Operating out of VA's Sunnyvale CA headquarters, the group has a nationwide reach, coinciding with VA Linux Systems Sales offices in New York, Atlanta, Toronto, Dallas, Los Angeles, and Washington, D.C.
