Subject: [Livid-dev] Set Region under linux?

I have a second new DVD drive and it won't play any DVDs yet because it
never has had its region set (It is RPC-2). So when I try playing it
goes so far and then I get the region mismatch error. If I really need
to, I can run it under NT and it will bring up a set utility, but there
has to be an ATAPI command to do this. I didn't see any ioctl in the
kernel that looked promising. Currently, the disk authenticates, and
goes up to getting the title key and fails there. Before I do this
under NT, I thought I would see if anyone could point me at something I
could use under Linux or at the specs so I could roll my own.

My Original SCSI drive works fine, so I don't need to use the new drive
soon, but I am configuring an IDE system.

I just submitted some stuff to Jens Axboe a week ago, to include exactly
these 2 function (query and set region code) into the CD-ROM driver.
There will be 2 more ioctl's in the DVD-AUTH package. Jens, any
progress, or final information on the naming?

The stuff is in 2.3.30 and also the dec3 patch for 2.2 on my page.
It was quickly hacked in and hasn't been tested - so please do!
