Dr. Irving Wladawsky-Berger to Address LinuxWorld Conference & Expo On February 3

Keynote to be First by Newly Appointed IBM Linux Executive to Linux Community

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 2000--IBM's Dr. Irving Wladawsky-Berger will deliver his first Linux-industry keynote presentation at IDG World Expo's LinuxWorld Conference & Expo at the Jacob Javits Center, New York City on Thursday, February 3 at 2:30 PM Eastern Standard Time. His presentation, "Linux and the Next Generation of e-business," will address the confluence of three dynamic forces: the tremendous advances in technology; the increasing trend of integrating business processes, people and IT infrastructures; and the surge in business innovation.

Wladawsky-Berger was recently appointed to lead IBM's major initiative to expand the use and marketing of Linux across its spectrum of server hardware. "We are delighted Dr. Wladawsky-Berger has selected LinuxWorld Conference & Expo to address the Linux community for the first time," said Charlie Greco, president and CEO of IDG World Expo. "We look forward to welcoming him at our first East Coast event."

A major part of Wladawsky-Berger's responsibilities in his new role is to lead IBM's participation in the important and growing trend toward open standards for interoperability in e-business. In conjunction with this, he is working to make Linux and the open source movement a natural extension of IBM's commitment to e-business and the next generation of the Internet.

LinuxWorld Conference and Expo is the premiere Linux-only industry event. This event focuses on the Linux business with a special emphasis on the financial and technical aspects of this booming industry. Attendees are supporters, investors and enthusiasts of the Linux operating system. The New York LinuxWorld Conference & Expo will be hosted at the Jacob Javits Center - February 1 - 4. It will feature over 50 conference sessions broken into seven conference tracks. In addition to Dr. Wladawsky-Berger, keynote speakers include Linux creator Linus Torvalds and Larry M.
