Latest Upgrade to TiVo Service Delivers Better Control and Choice for all Current and Future Subscribers

January 6, 2001 - LAS VEGAS, NV - January 6, 2001, TiVo, Inc., (NASDAQ: TIVO) the creator and leader in personal television today announced the upcoming delivery of significant improvements to its personal television service for all its current subscribers. This service upgrade will be delivered automatically to current and new TiVo customers in the first quarter of 2001. The new service features will be available to all TiVo customers regardless of which TiVo recorder or receiver they use, including those from Philips, Sony and the DIRECTV receiver with TiVo, and regardless of when they purchased their system. New service capabilities include:

"The features and usability of the TiVo service have set the pace for the industry, TiVo-like functionality has lead the innovations in the market this past year," continued Ramsay.
