Now Starting at Breakthrough Price of $799

Macworld Expo, New York—July 19, 2000—Apple® today introduced an entirely new iMac™ line that starts at a breakthrough price of $799 and features four new models in stunning new colors. All four iMac models include Apple’s new optical mouse and pro keyboard as standard. The new iMac colors are Indigo, Ruby, Sage and Snow, and join the prized Graphite color in the line.

The new iMac family offers fast PowerPC G3 processors now running at up to 500 MHz and larger storage up to 30GB. The iMac DV models also include iMovie™ 2, the next version of the world’s most popular, easy-to-use consumer digital video editing software.

“iMac is now more stunning and accessible than ever,” said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iMac is simply the world’s best computer for connecting to the Internet and making desktop movies in the home or classroom.”

The new iMac family includes:

The new iMacs come standard with Apple’s new, innovative optical mouse and new pro keyboard. The Apple Pro Mouse provides precise positioning without a mousepad on almost any surface, an ergonomic full surface button and a comfortable elliptical shape. The sleek new Apple Pro Keyboard offers full-size function, navigation, volume control and disc eject keys, as well as two USB ports.

All iMac DV models include FireWire ports for connection to digital camcorders and other FireWire devices, and iMovie 2 software pre-installed. iMovie 2 features a refined user interface that’s even easier to use, dramatically improved audio editing capabilities, enhanced controls for titles and transitions, and new effects such as speeding up or slowing down video clips, adding sepia tone and creating soft focus. iMac DV+ and iMac DV Special Edition feature slot-loading DVD-ROM drives for reading DVDs and playing DVD movies. All iMac DV models also feature support for AirPort™, Apple’s wireless networking solution.

iMac’s other great features that have made it a hit in the home and classroom include fanless operation, reducing noise levels to half that of competitive systems; the ATI RAGE 128 Pro accelerator for outstanding graphics; built-in 10/100BASE-T Ethernet for easy DSL and cable modem access; and the all-digital sound system designed in collaboration with Harman Kardon.
