SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 11, 2000 — Today at the CompUSA store in San Francisco, Microsoft Corp. will officially launch Microsoft® Office 2001 for Mac, with strong industry support from Apple Computer Inc., FileMaker Inc. and CompUSA Inc. Office 2001 includes updated versions of Word, Excel and the PowerPoint® 2001 presentation graphics program, as well as Entourage™ 2001, a new version of the e-mail and personal information manager. Entourage 2001 e-mail and personal information manager helps people communicate and take control of personal information through effortless e-mail management tools and a tightly integrated personal calendar and comprehensive address book that synchronize with Palm OS handheld devices so customers on the go can access all their personal information.

Office 2001 also allows customers to simplify difficult tasks with innovative features that appeared first on the Macintosh, such as the new Office Project Gallery and PowerPoint Movie feature, which lets people save presentations as QuickTime movies.

Office 2001 is the most similar version to the Mac ever created and continues to offer unsurpassed compatibility with Office 2000 for the Windows® operating system.
