IBM's POWER Parallel Systems business unit produces world-class scalable, parallel information systems for commercial and scientific/technical customers. The organization is an internal IBM partnership [ http://ibm.tc.cornell.edu/ibm/pps/gif/collaboration.gif ] which combines resources from the Large Scale Computing Division, the Workstations Division and IBM Research. The POWERparallel system is the high end of the very popular RISC System/6000 family.

POWER Parallel Systems was formed to bring the price/performance leadership of RISC-based technology, using parallel processing techniques, into the large system commercial and technical markets. The organization is involved in high performance computer application management; high performance systems development; software development; and services and support.

The mission of PowerParallel Systems is to design, develop and bring to market industry leading, scalable, microprocessor and UNIX-based parallel solutions for both commercial and technical applications.
