"FLEX-ES - Proven, Not Promised

Looking for a new mainframe? Willing to bet your data on
a non-validated platform? We think not."

From http://www.t3t.com/PartnerWorld.htm
"Note that FLEX-ES based systems are the ONLY S/390
emulator-based systems that IBM PartnerWorld for Developers
licenses for S/390 AD/CD's. Any other products may be running
without legitimate licenses! Check with IBM for verification."

Ouch! I get the impression that Hercules may not be popular in
certain quarters.

Fundamental's ire may be directed more towards UMX.
A far more worrying competitor than Hercules, especially if they get into
bed with IBM, which is not inconceivable.

PS sorry if the pun offends Phil's sensibilities.

I'm not so sure...Hercules is, after all, in the real world and freely
available, while UMX is definitely not the latter and possibly not the
former (there are differing opinions on this one). FSI has been going after
Hercules for a couple of years now.

That said...I've been saying all along that, while it is my goal for
Hercules for it to be as solid and reliable and correct as Flex-ES, I do not
view it as competition in the corporate datacenter. I've definitely said
this to Gary Eheman and Peter Ward, and the guys at T3 Technologies as well.
The goals are different, as are the support mechanisms.

Now, back to fixing a couple of bugs so we can get 2.16 out the door...
