64 bit mode already implemented?

mkwasigr

Dec 13, 2002

Ok guys,

1st of all I'd like to apologize if this has been answered berfore,
but I need accurate and 1st hand information on this.

Anyway, here I go: Does Hercules 2.16.5 support 64 bit mode?

I've tried to IPL z/OS 1.2 in ESAME mode, but Hercules still displays
32-bit register, so I'm confused.

If the answer is no: Does the CVS version support 64 bit mode? If no:
when will 64 bit mode be availabe?

Sorry again if I should've missed the answers in the archive.

While waiting for you answers, I'll look up Hercules source code.

TIA

I'm going to assume you can legally run z/OS on Hercules...

These messages mark the switch to 64-bit mode. It's running.

Rather than assume, I am interested to learn if Intercope has actually obtained
permission for running z/OS 1.3 on Hercules, because if so it may point to an
easier
path for permissible use of IBM OS's under emulation in general. So the guy
would be
contributing greatly if he could describe how he came about the right to do as
he says
he has with z/OS. From his (Michael Kwasigroch's) previous posts it appears he
has
an MP3000 at work that is used for development. (Intercope is apparently some
sort
of ISV)

What are you trying to do here? Getting me into trouble??? Thanks
much, mate!

I'm just evaluating if Hercules can run z/OS 1.2 in 64 bit mode. We
also think about using a z/800 or Flex/ES for legally doing 64-bit
development, btw... but my path is set now, I guess.

And I was just asking if permission had been granted. If it had, I'd
love to know the terms if you are at liberty to say, because that could be
useful information for establishing T&C's that all emulators may be able
to take advantage of. I wrote you privately on this a while back but with
no effect.
