Gimme a chance...I only got home from the Apple store in Minneapolis with my
copy an hour or so ago.

I have a few Mac/Hercules questions so I figured now is a good time
to ask them, too. I recall hearing that the Windows implementation of
Herucles wasn't quite on par, feature wise, with the Linux version
(if it is, Windows users don't hurt me, I only use the Linux version),
but how does the Mac port compare to the Linux port? With a common
*NIX background I would think the port would be easier. Also, how
does performance compare MIPS wise between PowerPC architecture and
x86 architecture? I'm specifically interested in the 800 MHz iMac that
Jay has because I have an 800 MHz Pentium III running Linux/390
(CentOS) on Hercules and was wondering how the different
architectures compare. I haven't checked in a few weeks, but I recall
getting around 8-10 MIPS.

Thanks,
Tim

Anyone run Hercules on 10.2?

I couldn't get 10.3 to install on my Wallstreet PowerBook, which only
supports 10.2.

It should run, plus or minus networking; you'll probably hae to build it
yourself from source, though, since I never could get downlevel building to
work.

Hercules and Mac OS X Tiger

Hercules 3.02 runs on Tiger. I brought it up and IPLed a couple of OSes, and
have no problems.

The tunnel driver doesn't run on Tiger, but that's to be expected, since
Apple reqorked the kernel interfaces and added a formal kernel programming
interface which they guarantee won't change. Hopefully, a new tunnel driver
will be available soon, and when it is, the whole problem with having to
change it for each version will go away. In the meantime, though, CTC
networking for Hercules won't work.
