Gartner Survey Shows Verizon Wireless Rated Highest Satisfaction Among Business Users

STAMFORD, CONN., June 13, 2001 — Business users are the most important segment for wireless service carriers, and a recent survey by Gartner, Inc. (NYSE: IT and ITB) showed that Verizon Wireless ranked the highest in terms of service satisfaction among corporate users. Gartner surveyed nearly 200 corporate users at its Mobile and Wireless conference, which was held in San Diego in March 2001.

Of those surveyed, 87 percent of Verizon Wireless users reported that they were very or somewhat satisfied with their wireless voice service. AT&T Wireless had a satisfaction rating of 80 percent, while Sprint PCS had a rating of 79 percent (see Table 1).

"Although the satisfaction rate is generally high, it is a clear call for those operators who rank near the bottom that improvements need to be made. Coverage is the biggest reason why users are dissatisfied. Verizon offers the best coverage and was rated highest in this category by business users," said Phillip Redman, research director for Gartner's networking group. "In our survey, 91 percent of the respondents were decision makers or influential in the purchase of wireless services."
