Cingular Wireless to Offer Services through Circuit City Superstores Nationwide

Atlanta, October 3, 2001 - Cingular Wireless, the nation's second largest wireless company, and Circuit City Stores, Inc., one of the largest national retailers of consumer electronics, today announced a three-year agreement that will enhance Cingular's already national presence by expanding its nationwide distribution to more than 475 Circuit City stores.

This agreement will allow Cingular Wireless to continue its mission to be the only wireless provider dedicated to enhancing individual human expression. "Circuit City's extensive national presence provides Cingular with an excellent means of reaching out to potential new customers," said Stephen Carter, president and chief executive officer of Cingular Wireless. "Together, we will provide consumers with the means to express themselves through Cingular."

"This agreement further enhances our industry-leading wireless offering," said W. Alan McCollough, Circuit City's president and chief executive officer. "It provides another example of our 'We're With You' commitment by delivering the best possible service to Circuit City customers."

"We know that many of our customers prefer to shop on the Web," said McCollough. "So, in addition to purchasing Cingular wireless service in our stores, customers can access Circuit City's Wireless Advisor at www.CircuitCity.com. By providing a zip code, customers can learn about Cingular service and determine if it is offered in their area."

The alliance is expected to create a significant number of new Cingular Wireless customers, adding to its current customer base of more than 21 million nationwide, and allow Circuit City to add into more stores a major national carrier that offers broad coverage and well-featured handsets.
