Is there some IP stack for OS/2 that is program-compatable with Lan
Manager NetBIOS (or has some compatability module) that actually does
    IP instead of NetBIOS?

IBM and FTP Software both offer RFC 1001/1002 Netbios over TCP/IP on OS/2
as part of complete client/server TCP/IP applications suites. I believe
that Novell (former Excelan) 3Com and U-B also have offerings, but with
fewer applications.

If so, what does it look like as far as connecting to NetBIOS from
    the suns?

Not so good. All the TCP/IP Netbios implementations I've heard about for
Unix systems are specialized SMB fileservers; the Netbios NCB is a very
DOS-ish concept, and even if one vendor or another exposes an API, there
is no Unix Netbios API standard. I'm pretty sure Syntax, in Redmond WA,
has an SMB server for Suns, ask them about raw Netbios...

I have written a very crude netbios compatible server that will run on
most unix boxes (SUN, Ultrix, Silicon graphics, Sequent, AIX etc) over
TCP/IP. (it just uses sockets)

I implemented it without knowing it was netbios! I was just
implemententing a server compatible with DEC's pcsafs product. If anyone
wants to make it work with othes clients the they are welcome to have a
go.

It is temporarily on coombs.anu.edu.au in inbound/server-051.tar.Z

Cheers,
Andrew
