Mr. Kapor said the changes will "allow me to focus on Lotus's strategic and product development" while Mr. Manzi will be responsible for the company's daily activities.

Mr. Kapor is a founder of the software company.

Mr. Manzi had been vice president, marketing and sales, since joining Lotus in 1983. Most recently, he was a consultant with New York-based McKinsey & Co.
