MORRISTOWN, N.J. -- OCTOBER 16, 1990 -- AT&T Computer Systems today announced two fall promotions for purchasers of AT&T 6386 WorkGroup Systems and UNIX* SYSTEM V/386 RELEASE 3.2.3 software.

Purchasers of a special model AT&T 6386SX/EL WGS will receive free, a copy of MS Windows* 3.0 with enhanced VGA resolution and support for AT&T's StarGROUP* LAN Manager Server network operating system, MS-DOS* 4.0.1 and a three-button mouse. The 6386SX/EL WGS includes 2-MB RAM, a 40-MB hard disk, AT compatible keyboard and a VGA monitor. Priced separately, the mouse, Windows and MS-DOS software would cost $419. The package is available from Nov. 1 through Jan. 31, 1991.

"We have enhanced Windows with super VGA resolution and support for StarGROUP LAN Manager Server that makes it easier to install and use in client configurations," said Roy Eberle, AT&T Computer Systems' Director of Marketing for entry systems. "Those enhancements, combined with the AT&T 6386SX/EL WGS and mouse, provide a complete, working Windows/MS-DOS system at a more-than-competitive price."

In a second promotion that runs Oct. 15 through Jan. 31, 1991, purchasers of UNIX System V/386 3.2.3 will receive a free multi-user UNIX version of Lotus 1-2-3* Release 3 spreadsheet software.

Lotus 1-2-3 for UNIX System V provides advanced spreadsheet capabilities, including data analysis improvements, three dimensional modeling, relational database functionality, improved graphics and file reservation features. Combined with the benefits of UNIX, the package enables cross-platform file and data sharing, multi-tasking and support for multiple users, AT&T said.

The UNIX 1-2-3 software also provides external data access capabilities through Lotus' DataLens*technology, which enables users to access external databases directly from 1-2-3 spreadsheets.

"By packaging UNIX and Lotus 1-2-3 together, we reinforce our commitment to open systems computing and investment protection for our customers," Eberle said. "A fully functional UNIX System V release of Lotus 1-2-3 delivers on our promise of customer investment protection by minimizing our customers' training and applications development costs."

The UNIX System V/386 Release 3.2.3 operating system is available in versions for 2-users, priced at $595; 16-users, priced at $795 and unlimited-users, priced at $1,595. The software runs on AT&T's 6386, 6386E, 6386/SX, 6386SX/EL, 6386/25, 6386/33 and 6386/33 Model S WorkGroup Systems.
