Arduino

It's a small and inexpensive board that is normally used to deploy designs developed with Wiring. It's useful when you want to make multiple objects and don't want to give away your precious Wiring board

The circuit was designed by Massimo Banzi [ http://www.potemkin.org/ ] and David Cuartielles [ http://www.0j0.org/wiki/index.php/DojoDave ], it is opensource and you can download the Eagle cad files here.

The software has been mainly written by David Mellis [ http://dam.mellis.org/ ] and Nicholas Zambetti [ http://www.zambetti.com/ ], based on Wiring by Hernando Barragan.

Yaniv Steiner and Giorgio Olivero have been supporting the project and are working at using it with the Instant Soup [ http://instantsoup.interaction-ivrea.it/ ] platform.

There are three versions of the Arduino board:

Serial - It's a basic board that uses RS232 as an interface to a computer for programming or communication. This board is easy to assemble even as a learning exercise and should cost less than 20 EUR. USB - It's an evolution of the previous board that has a USB port to communicate with a computer. It's more difficult to assemble because of the SMD chip. Bluetooth - This is the latest version that eliminates the need for cables going to the microcontroller board. It can be programmed and communicate up to 10 metres away from a computer. It can also be used from a mobile phone. (The design for this board will be downloadable after we debug it :)
