[Makers] UAV Challenge Moss, Andrew Andrew.Moss at ed.act.edu.au Wed Nov 24 08:20:28 EST 2010 Hi there, Thanks to those who came to the meeting last night at Dickson College and the wonderful reception of the UAV development idea. For those who were not there, I proposed that MHV create a team to enter the UAV outback challenge which is held annually in Queensland. Here is the links to the websites for more information. www.uavoutbackchallenge.com.au http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aq2JZAgXgc8 www.diydrones.com Over the next week, I am going to meet with a few potential partners and sponsors. Assuming this goes well, we can kick off the development in a couple of weeks. Stay tuned! Andrew -- This email remains the property of ACT Department of Education & Training. [Makers] UAV project Moss, Andrew Andrew.Moss at ed.act.edu.au Thu Nov 25 13:28:50 EST 2010 Hi Guys, It is fantastic that so many people have taken up the UAV outback project. Great discussion and good ideas. Keep them coming. Next week, I hope to formalise the structure of the project. I will be identifying "focus" groups that will specialise on certain aspects of the project. There will also be a small "committee", who will not get involved in the technical "guts" of the project, but will responsible to keep the project running (finances, sponsorship, logistics, regulatory aspects, etc). Next week, I would like match people with interest and skills into groups. This will do two things, keep the groups tight knit and focused and it will allow me to present the project to potential sponsors showing the expertise we have in the group. To this end, can you produce a one page summary of : 1) What aspects of the UAV project would you like to get involved in? 2) Areas of expertise. 3) Education and employment. 4) contacts for potential sponsors or partners. 5) photo. My students will be on holidays until February. Some of them will be coming to the MHV meeting to follow our the progress. By February, I would like us to have the basic building blocks of what we are going to use (types of radios, autopilot, etc). My students, then can do an "integration" exercise rather than a full blown low level development project which they will get lost in. Look forward to talking to you soon.
