What happened at the last UAV meeting?
Well, not very much because not many people showed up.
However, last Sunday Andrew and I placed a GPS and a 900MHz Xbee on a small
plane of mine, and flew it around the standard circuit at a moderate pace.
It was tracked quite well on Andrew's laptop, and was shown to have an
average speed of around 90Km/hr.
We found that it was very difficult to take a handful of parts and a
battery, and mount them in the plane on arrival at the airfield. Anything we
need to put in the plane should be mounted in a box with a switch on it.
This way the device can be tested and made operational at home, tested by
carying it around in one piece, then be easily mounted in the aircraft
before the flight.

At the makers meeting on Tuesday night, Andrew brought his new GPS, arduino
mega, and my Xbee mounted in a plastic chocolate case. Dave had a video
system going.

Hopefully we can fly a video camera and a recorder, Steve's Canon camera,
and Andrew's GPS this Sunday on a plane. Chris may also have his bottle drop
mechanism ready to try.
We plan to meet around 11am on Sunday at the Canberra Model Aircraft Club
(CMAC)
