[Canberrauav] Sunday Recap Stephen Dade stephen_dade at hotmail.com Sun Sep 23 21:19:26 EST 2012 Hi everyone, This morning we planned to fly the Mugin, but our plans were thwarted by high winds and the bottle parachute coming loose on the ground. Tridge and Matt did a few test flights with the Pulse40 to test some small changes in the APM code. Unfortunately, it crashed into the ground with moderate damage (not repairable before the competition). The crash was not related to the APM, rather it was pilot error. We'll take up Chris' Stick aircraft as our small-scale RC aircraft. We also spent some time going through the scrutineering checklist, with the following notes: -Small dints and dents in the fuselage need to be smoothed over -Remember to use to "good" propeller on the Mugin -The side antenna needs to be tightened - it's still quite loose -The wiring harness needs to be neater and labelled -Foam mount for the APM needs to be double checked -Servo power switch needs to be mounted We had a build session at Jack's place during the afternoon, with the following achievements: -1 completed and 2 near-completed laptop shade boxes -The capture stream from the Mugin can be forwarded to another laptop (via Tridge's laptop) -A second (and better designed) bottle parachute module created -A microswitch has been fitted to the bottle drop mechanism, which can confirm whether the bottle is still attached to the Mugin Tridge and Jack plan to fly the Mugin on Monday morning (assuming low winds). See you all Monday night! -Stephen
