[Canberrauav] Weekend Plans Stephen Dade stephen_dade at hotmail.com Tue Jul 15 23:32:45 EST 2014 Hi everyone, The plan for this weekend is twofold: -Verify the Odroid/GPS interference issue is solved -Take some video footage of our full (or as close as practical) GCS for the D3 video. With GCS, we would need a couple of laptops running MAVProxy, Networking gear (which I have), antenna tracker and (hopefully) the van with table/chairs. I would also like to do a flight with the GCS network running, to both verify the setup and ensure the other (non-Tridge) GCS operators start getting experience with MAVProxy. The network switch is Lipo powered, so we are flexible in GCS placement. Jack has indicated that there won't be a need for a Thursday build night this week. Thanks Stephen
[Canberrauav] Weekend Recap Stephen Dade stephen_dade at hotmail.com Sun Jul 20 19:33:11 EST 2014 Hi everyone, Thanks to everyone who came down to CMAC today and helped out with the testing - Jack, Tridge, Chris, Matt, James and Darrell. We performed a number of tests today: -1x 50min flight with the camera/Odroid/5.8GHz systems. The system operated with great success (after Tridge made a quick mid-flight software patch) and it was able to pick out the "dummies" we had in the field. -1x 20min flight with the ground station out at Red Hill. We confirmed that the 5.8GHz radio link definitely has the range (and stability) we require. -A quick setup of the full ground station to check the layout. Some work came from this: -The RFD900 needs to be fitted to the Bushmaster (as the 3DR radio didn't have the range to complete the 900MHz to Red Hill) -The USB cable between the camera and Odroid was very unreliable during the second flight. It needs to be replaced. -Chris has his own to-do list for the van-ground-station -If Jack has time, he may be able to strengthen the landing gear on the Bushmaster (it was slightly bent after a heavy landing) Thanks Stephen
