[Canberrauav] The 6-9 month plan Stephen Dade stephen_dade at hotmail.com Wed Nov 26 22:57:05 EST 2014 Hi everyone, We've been having a bit of a discussion in regards to CanberraUAV's plans for the next 6-9 months. Like with a lot of projects, it's always good to have a definite goal to work towards. In our case, our short-term goal is to build up a S&R UAV based upon a small "foamie" airframe - -1.5m wingspan -<5kg mass -Electric propulsion -Able to be launched without needing a prepared road/track We also will be getting our Controller's Certificate and Operator's Certificate. This will allow us much more flexibility in where we are able to fly. More importantly, we will be able to get insurance. >From this we will offer our services to any real-life search and rescue situations. There is a fair number of subprojects that need to happen first - building up a couple of mission-ready UAV's, ground stations, mission documentation and radio links. But we think all of this is achievable in the next 6-9 months. It's going to be an exciting 9 months! -Stephen
