of Los Angeles from Order No. 070297-04 of the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution
Control District
Order No. 070297-04 of the Great Basin Unified Air Pollution Control District requires the City of Los Angeles (City) to implement certain PM-10 control measures on the dry bed of Owens Lake. The City appealed this order as provided in Health and Safety Code section 42316, and the Board heard the appeal on May 22, 1998. The Board then continued this matter until its June 25, 1998 hearing, at which the parties requested an additional one-month continuance to finalize a settlement agreement. The Board will resume consideration of the City's appeal on July 30, 1998. |
98-8-1 | Public Hearing to Consider the Adoption of a Regulatory Amendment Identifying
Diesel Exhaust as a Toxic Air Contaminant
The Air Resources Board (ARB) staff is proposing a regulation for adoption
by the Board that formally identifies diesel exhaust as a toxic air contaminant
under the AB 1807 TAC program (Health and Safety Code section 39650 et seq.,

by the staffs of the Air Resources Board and the Office of Environmental
Health Hazard Assessment. |
98-8-2 | Public Meeting to Consider a Report by the Fuel Cell Technical Advisory
Panel
The Air Resources Board established the Fuel Cell Technical Advisory
Panel (Panel) to assist ARB by providing an independent assessment of developing
fuel cell technologies and prospects for commercial application in vehicles.
The Panel has just completed a fact-finding study that included a comprehensive
evaluation of ongoing research. The Chair of the Panel, Dr. Fritz Kalhammer,
will make a presentation to the Board summarizing the findings and conclusions
of the Panel. |
98-8-3 | Public Meeting to Update the Board on the Status of the ARB's Zero-Emission
Vehicle (ZEV) Program and ZEV Technology
The seven largest auto manufacturers signed memoranda of agreement (MOAs) with ARB. These MOAs require the auto manufacturers and ARB to fulfill certain commitments intended to ensure the successful introduction and a sustainable market for zero-emission vehicles. This item will update the Board on the progress made by the auto manufacturers and ARB. Additionally, this item is intended to update the Board on the status of battery technology. |
