Go Network Announces New Infoseek Search: 30 Percent Faster, 50 Percent Larger
New Search at GO Network Includes Term Highlighting and "Follow-Me" Search Tab
SUNNYVALE, Calif. - May 13, 1999 - Infoseek Corporation (Nasdaq: SEEK), home of GO Network, today announced a new and improved version of Infoseek Search on GO Network. In addition to improving the speed with which search results are published by 30 percent and increasing the size of the Infoseek search index by 50 percent, the service has been enhanced with some unique and powerful user features including:
Term highlighting: A powerful feature that highlights precisely where your search word or phrase appears in the search results summary.
Similar search: A selection of suggested queries that help the user complete a more comprehensive search on their subject.

Search Essential to Users Search continues to be the most popular activity on the Web by a wide margin. In a study conducted in the last quarter of 1998, American Internet User found 91 percent of all Internet users use search engines. The next activity was a full 24 percentage points lower in popularity. In a study done by Jupiter Research this year, users ranked search the most important activity for them awarding it a 9.1 on a 10-point scale with 10 being extremely important to them. The next most important service ranked only a 6.3 on the 10-point scale.
