Hello! Welcome to Grooveshark.com, the future home of the Grooveshark System. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Sam Tarantino, founder and CEO, currently a student at the University of Florida [ http://www.ufl.edu/ ].

We are here at Grooveshark because we believe in an ideal. We believe in a model without the hindrance of DRM where everyones rights are respected. It is understood that content owners should be compensated for their work in producing content but it should not be compromising the rights of the consumers, the music lovers, and even more importantly the artist.

A crossroads has been reached in this industry and like other crossroads before it, the player piano, the radio, the phonograph, Vinyl, the cassette, and the CD, a disruptive technology has challenged the rights of all parties involved. DRM is the industry’s solution. The time is now for the consumer’s solution.

We are here to implement a solution to solve the problem of piracy while retaining the consumer’s rights. In the months to come we will bring you up to the minute content industry news, our take on this news, and our progress on the Grooveshark Music Sharing Community. We challenge you to join us in debate, argument, and discussion as we contend with the issues that face us because it will be YOUR input that will determine the direction of Grooveshark.
