Escape Media Group, LLC is a privately owned company operated out of Gainesville, FL. Escape Media Group was founded in 2006 by three entrepreneurs at the University of Florida.

Our Mission

Our mission is—and has been since the beginning—to provide exciting new ways for people to access digital media. Beginning with our first venture, Grooveshark [ http://www.grooveshark.com/ ], we aim to revolutionize the way music is acquired online. By leveraging the advantages of many of the current industry leaders and adding our own spice to the recipe, we will create a system that is truly beneficial to music fans, artists, and creative rights owners.

Management Bios

Sam Tarantino
Chief Executive Officer

Sam founded Escape Media Group with a vision to change the way business is conducted digitally. Digital distribution has lead to immense untapped opportunities for consumers and musicians to connect in ways never before possible.

For the first time the music lover has the opportunity to immerse themselves in mass personalization, and this is the paramount belief behind Sam's vision of the future of the music industry. He is crusading to deliver this dream into a reality, and has built the foundation of Escape Media Group based on these core beliefs.

An Economics major at the University of Florida and part-time lead musician, Sam uses his knowledge and background to manage and motivate his team to success, and to improve upon the existing business models of current digital media distribution services. He has done countless studies and research in the economic ramifications behind the disruptive technology of p2p networks. His mentors include professors in the Center of Entrepreneurship at UF as well as talented business minds in the Gainesville Technology Enterprise Center.

Josh Greenberg
Chief Technology Officer

Josh co-founded Escape Media Group after seeing a need for cohesive, easy-to-use distribution systems for digital media and the potential for the development of such a system. By utilizing his technical skills and his team management abilities, Josh heads the research and development department within Escape Media Group.

Josh is a Business Administration major at the University of Florida. He has been a PHP programmer for over five years, and has always had an interest in software development and online community dynamics.

Josh has been an entrepreneur since before he could vote, owning and managing his first company, DevelopedWeb, Inc., beginning at age 17.

Andres Barreto
Chief Operations Officer

Andres co-founded Escape Media Group envisioning the potential of implementing a social network and fulfilling the need for a truly engaging user experience in a social setting. He now uses his expertise to design the features of the Escape Media Group's applications.

Before joining Escape Media Group, Andres co-founded and served as CEO of Orgpoint, LLC, a web application development company focused on creating communities of practice and online social networks. Additionally, Andres has over five years of experience in user interaction design, focusing specifically on social networks and communities of practice.

Apart from his design experience, Andres has conducted extensive research for the last four years on the social and legal issues of P2P piracy and its impact on the enertainment industry.
