Bell Atlantic/Nynex settle suit against AT&T/McCaw Cellular
NEW YORK -- November 7, 1994 -- AT&T, Bell Atlantic and Nynex today announced a settlement in the antitrust action brought by Bell Atlantic and Nynex against the AT&T/McCaw Cellular merger.
Details of the settlement are confidential. In general, AT&T has made several commitments to accelerate its pursuit of open interfaces in its cellular network equipment.
All parties agree that the settlement is a pro-competitive agreement that shows AT&T's willingness to meet the needs of cellular service providers such as Bell Atlantic and Nynex. The ultimate beneficiary of this increased competition is the customer.
