Microsoft and Samsung Reveal Windows Powered Pocket PC For GSM/GPRS Networks

Companies Continue to Deliver on Strategic Alliance With Unveiling Of Stylish and Powerful New GSM/GPRS Pocket PC With Integrated Camera

CANNES, France, Feb. 17, 2003 — Today at 3GSM World Congress 2003, Microsoft Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., the world's third-largest manufacturer of wireless handsets, officially unveiled the Samsung Windows® Powered MITs (Mobile Intelligent Terminal by Samsung) SGH-i700, a Windows Powered Pocket PC. This GSM/GPRS-enabled "smart" device is a result of Microsoft and Samsung's commitment to collaborate and develop a portfolio of Windows Powered smart, wireless devices that address diverse customer requirements and design preferences.

These products, available soon on GSM/GPRS wireless networks, will provide mobile operators with a new and compelling Pocket PC to offer their subscribers.

The Samsung MITs SGH-i700 Pocket PC will allow customers to wirelessly access their Microsoft® Outlook® messaging and collaboration client data, play media files, browse the Web while on the go, as well as make phone calls and send instant and Short Message Service (SMS) messages. The MITs SGH-i700 Pocket PC is a wireless PDA with an integrated digital camera, SD card slot, larger touch-screen display for easy viewing of data, and a stylus for data input and navigation.

The Samsung MITs SGH-i700 Pocket PC for GSM/GPRS networks adds to Samsung's Windows Powered mobile device lineup that includes the recently announced Samsung MITs i700 Pocket PC for CDMA networks.
