Sony Ericsson expands on-line services, applications and content to consumers
October 20, 2003
Sony Ericsson today announced exclusive services, new applications and exciting
content available on its newly launched Fun & Downloads webpage. The site now offers
a wide choice of services for mobile phones, such as imaging services, including
photo editing and photo album, as well as well-known games and a selection of ring
signals.
“With this on-line resource, we provide consumers a place where they can find downloadable
services, content and applications that allow them to experience and maximize all
features and capabilities of their Sony Ericsson phone,” says Toon Diependaele,
E-Business and Direct Marketing Director at Sony Ericsson. “At the same time we
are stimulating the uptake of mobile services, in that way bringing more traffic
to our operator customers’ networks.”
The availability of Fun & Downloads is currently being rolled out across EMEA and
Asia Pacific, is accessible both through the web and over WAP, and is currently
localised in more than 30 languages. Premium entertainment brands, such as Sony
Music, Sony Pictures Digital Entertainment, Atari and Cartoon Network are integrated
as content partners. For the US, the Underground-section of Sony Ericsson’s consumer
web offers competitions, on-line games and imaging services through Sony Image Station.
The Fun & Downloads site specialises on three application areas; imaging, gaming
and personalization. As an extension to the imaging phones such as the T610, P800
and Z600, images can be sent straight from the phone into an online photo album.
Consumer can then edit and transform them into wallpapers, MMS messages, themes,
or even have them send to their home, printed on glossy photo paper through Colour
Plaza. The MMS messages created on the Internet can later be downloaded to the mobile
phone and send on to friends, relatives or colleagues.
There are approximately 170 Java and Mophun games available for download, including
popular, well known game properties such as V-Rally 1 and 2, Tony Hawk Pro Skater
4 and Kelly Slater Pro Surfer. Users can also register their high scores on-line.
For many games, the soundtrack is a vital part and at Fun & Downloads, the music
associated to the well-known games can be downloaded as polyphonic ring signals,
alongside of a wide library of ring tones from Sony Music.
There is a generous offering of free images, themes, ringtones, games and application
to ensure that users get to experiences the full capability of their phone. Fun
& Downloads can be found at: www.SonyEricsson.com/fun
