Apple Computer Inc. Plans Initial Common Stock Offering

CUPERTINO CALIF -DJ- APPLE COMPUTER INC SAID IT INTENDS TO FILE WITH THE SEC AN INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING OF AN UNDISCLOSED AMOUNT OF COMMON STOCK.
PROCEEDS WILL BE USED MAINLY FOR WORKING CAPITAL AND THE OFFERING WILL BE MADE LATER THIS YEAR APPLE SAID.
APPLE'S SALES PROBABLY WILL EXCEED $150 MILLION THIS YEAR, AND THE TOTAL NEXT YEAR IS EXPECTED TO BE TWICE THAT HIGH. APPLE IS GENERALLY REGARDED AS A CLOSE SECOND TO TANDY CORP. AMONG PERSONAL COMPUTER MANUFACTURERS.
