Digital Research Losing Out To Microsoft In Program Fight

DIGITAL RESEARCH INC., SUPPLIER OF THE LEADING MASTER CONTROL PROGRAM, OR OPERATING SYSTEM, FOR THE FIRST GENERATION OF PERSONAL COMPUTERS, HAS BEEN LOSING OUT TO MICROSOFT CORP. IN THE CONTEST TO SUPPLY THE MAIN CONTROL PROGRAM FOR THE PRESENT GENERATION. A VERSION OF MICROSOFT'S MS-DOS IS THE MOST POPULAR OPERATING SYSTEM FOR IBM'S PERSONAL COMPUTER, FOR EXAMPLE.

NOW, HOWEVER, DIGITAL RESEARCH IS ADAPTING ITS SYSTEM, CP/M-86, TO RUN PROGRAMS WRITTEN FOR THE MICROSOFT SYSTEM. THE ADAPTATION IS EXPECTED TO BE COMPLETE BY FEBRUARY.
