IBM, Microsoft To Hold News Conference, Software Demonstration

Technology and business reporters are invited to the Radisson Mark Plaza Hotel, 5000 Seminary Road, Alexandria, Va., on Tuesday, May 23, to speak with top executives in personal computer manufacturing and marketing.
Bill Gates of Microsoft, and Ken Thornton and Dan Lautenbach of IBM will be in Washington to take part in a customer and dealer conference on PS/2 and OS/2 applications.
Gates is chairman of Microsoft, which developed the operating system software for the PS/2. Thornton is vice president and area manager for IBM. Lautenbach is director of IBM's personal systems and display marketing.
A media Q&A with Gates, Thornton and Lautenbach will begin at 10 a.m. in the Cherry Boardroom on the Lobby Level of the Radisson. It will be preceded by a general session for customers and dealers at 9 a.m. in the Mark Plaza Ballroom on the lower lobby level. The media is invited to attend.
Following the Q&A, software demonstrations by a dozen leading software vendors will be available for journalists and photojournalists in the foyer outside of the ballroom. Breakout sessions, at which products will be discussed in detail, are also open to members of the media. They will be held in several rooms on both the lobby and the lower lobby levels.
