It's a lot more stable on loading graphics-intensive images than 1.02 ever was, which means it's taken up permanent residence on my disk...but one problem has cropped up: How the hell do I turn on palette management? I was using -p with 1.02, which did fine for me, and i'd like the same functionality, but 1.03 seems to ignore the -p switch. What am I doing wrong?...or is there a bug? -- Jay Maynard, EMT-P, K5ZC, PP-ASEL | Never ascribe to malice that which can http://k5zc.hsc.uth.tmc.edu | adequately be explained by stupidity. Does anyone know if this is a problem with 1.03? Is their some other trick that I have to do? Much appreciated in advance, -Huw

In any case, you're not alone in reporting the problem, but we've had no confirmation from IBM that they've received our previous bug reports. Shame, too; aside from this problem, WE 1.03 does just great for me. -- Jay Maynard, EMT-P, K5ZC, PP-ASEL | Never ascribe to malice that which can http://k5zc.hsc.uth.tmc.edu | adequately be explained by stupidity. If I have a desktop background picture 1.03 doesn't seem to reset the pallette to correctly colour incoming pictures, irrespective of whether I use the -p option or not. I had been wondering why this obviousl problem was allowed in a production release...but if the developers don't use a picture on their backgrounds, that would explain it. I, too, have a picture on my desktop...but disabling the picture and going to a solid color background didn't fix the problem. I'll try rebooting with the picture turned off and see what happens. -- Jay Maynard, EMT-P, K5ZC, PP-ASEL | Never ascribe to malice that which can http://k5zc.hsc.uth.tmc.edu | adequately be explained by stupidity. Hi folks, since I'm using the German OS/2 version it is difficult to assist you. However, I'm trying to explain the problem and mean which I do hope is the solution for that problem. I had the same problem when I optimized my palette for the WPS (in order to properly display my background bitmap). Turning off that optimization was all I needed (took me hours to come across that!). Hope this will solve your problem. bye Joerg +--------------------------------------------------------------------+ ! For American readers, the option Joerg is referring to is "Workplace Shell palette aware", on the first page of the System notebook in the OS/2 System folder. Turning that option off made WE 1.03's palette manager work for me. -- Jay Maynard, EMT-P, K5ZC, PP-ASEL | Never ascribe to malice that which can http://k5zc.hsc.uth.tmc.edu | adequately be explained by stupidity.
