Date: Fri, 10 May 91 16:32:13 EDT From: John T Kohl <jtkohl@MIT.EDU> To: krbdev@MIT.EDU alpha5: Ted put together an alpha5 dist earlier this week; he only had a few minor glitches, and should be ready to do the beta without coaching. user-to-user: we have sample code, but it needs clean-up GSSAPI: we have a library, but the interface is still somewhat fluid, and we have no test cases. some concern about HP, whether "native MIT interface" they plan to send out includes GSSAPI and our stuff, or just our stuff. code review: Since John Kohl is effectively out for the rest of May, Ted seems to be the only remaining body (unless John Carr has some time to help). He estimates he can spend about 60% time on it for the rest of May. telnet issues: Dave Borman has an updated version of telnet (as of 25 March 1991) with TELOPT_AUTHENTICATION support in it. It's kerberos5 support will not work with our current library, and has some unpalatable stuff in it. For the moment (i.e. beta) we shall not worry about that version of telnet, and we'll just distribute what we have working now. At some future time, we should coordinate with Dave & co. to update his version with reasonable V5 code. Tentative public beta-test release date: 3 June 1991. John will put together a public announcement of intent. John
