There's a reason this page is so cheap looking.

We are working nights & weekends to improve MySpace; no time to make a polished News page!

Until today, we'd been adding new features every few hours. We just added a new "Group Profile" feature. Check it out! Now you won't see anything new until Monday. We are doing some 'behind-the-scenes' work until then.

You will soon be able to:

Delete comments added to your profile
Delete comments added to your journals
Delete and edit your own journals
Delete bulletin posts
Empty your Trash! woo-hoo
View all the Info people enter under "Edit Profile"
Add more info to your profile
Do more advanced profile searches
See replies clearly with better text formatting in messages

Of course, these are small things--not features, but "fixes."

Pre-Dodgers Update

Many new users, glad to see you all here! Bad news: you still can't delete your trash. Good news: do you really care? We'll have this in soon. We promise. Bulletin deletes will be there soon as well.

Hopefully most of you have checked out some of the new features:

Journal lets you edit, delete, and add to other people's journals
Journal lets you add images and links! (Woohoo!)
Search lets you sort by new users, recent logins, or most recently updated
Mail shows you who you've replied to
You can see who's online (!!)

New Servers for New Users

Hey Folks -

So many new users in the last two days, so MySpace is going shopping. We just bought a big FAT chunk of hardware that we are installing tomorrow to bring the system back up to the fast speed you're used to. We won't leave you hanging, we'll keep adding as needed, and try to stay ahead of the curve next time. Thanks for your support.

Can Change Email/Turn off email reminders

Hey Folks -

The site was a little slow from 1:00pm--5:00pm today; we were installing a new image server. WHY?? Seems you all like to upload lots of pics and we ran out of space!

The last two weeks we've been optimizing the code, fixing tiny bugs, and adding new features. Most of the big things are still being developed, but here's what's new:

Leave comments on pictures (OMG!)
Hide your online status
Block friend requests from people you don't know
Approve comments before they're posted

These last three options you can change on the Home/Account Settings/Privacy page.

Please note we added an extensive FAQ [ http://www.myspace.com/misc/faq.html ] to answer your questions.

Also, glad to see how creative people are with HTML in their profiles. For help with designing your profile, go here [ http://www.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewProfile&friendID=95235 ]. (Thanks Joe!) Be careful to code properly. If you don't close your tags, you'll botch the page and won't be able to view your friends and comments.

New Features & More to Come

It's been awhile. Sorry for not keeping you up to date. Lots of effort has gone into keeping the site running fast. We had some problems yesterday, mostly last night. The speed problems are still intermittent and we are working on it right now.

Everyday I get emails from people telling me how MySpace has become part of their daily life. So far people have wrote to me to say they've made new friends, found new band members, jobs, and even new relationships, all from the connections they made on MySpace. I love hearing that. :-)

There are some new features:

Classified Section
Picture Ranking
Online Now status in more places
Find User interest search improved
Improved Mailbox (Next/Previous + Better Navigation)
General site navigation improvement

We've got some really cool stuff in the works that you should see over the next few weeks.

Your X-Mas Present!

OK. So we decided to give you MySpace IM - Instant Messenger for Xmas. It went live a few hours ago, so there's bound to be a few bugs and might take awhile to get it running smooth. Here's how it works:

First go to Home/Account Settings and check your IM privacy settings. You'll be able to set it so a) no one can IM you, b) only friends can IM you, or c) so anyone can IM you. NOTE: if you have "hide online now" set to on in the regular privacy settings (also on the account settings page), then no one can IM you.

When you want to IM someone, go to their profile and click "Instant Message". A window will pop up telling you if they are not available. If they are, you'll see the IM chat window. It starts with "Connecting..." This should only take a few seconds before the conversation can begin. Start typing. When done IMing someone, close your window, you can only have one IM window/conversation going at once.

Also note the new "blocking" feature. If you choose to block someone, MySpace does NOT tell the other person they are blocked. But they won't be able to IM you or send you messages.
