VA Research and Red Hat Software Announce Holiday Service Drive

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., December 17, 1997-- VA Research in cooperation with Red Hat Software will donate 2% of the cost of every VArStation 25 to the Free Software Foundation, Linux International, the Samba Project, and Toys For Tots.

"This all came about from an idea at Comdex. We were discussing the future of free software with some people from Red Hat, and agreed that we needed to do something to support free software financially. Then when we were planning the announcement of our latest computer, it hit us. We will give a portion of each sale to support free software", said Sam Ockman, Director of Software for VA Research.

"We are excited about working with VA Research to offer support to the free software community. We hope that these donations will help to further free software development," said Lisa Sullivan, Marketing Director for Red Hat Software.

"Because this system makes such a great Holiday present, we decided to donate part of the money to Toys For Tots as well," said Steve Schaefer, Quality Assurance Manager at VA Research.

The VArStation 25 is a Dual Capable Pentium II system. Complete systems start at under $2200. Holiday offer is for all VArStation 25 systems with Red Hat Linux, ordered in the month of December.

The system can be found at http://www.varesearch.com/products/vs25.html. It can be ordered by calling 1-888-LINUX-4U or e-mailing sales@varesearch.com. VA Research's web site is www.varesearch.com. Red Hat's web site is www.redhat.com.
