Hello,
I manage reading my DVD under Windows NT in pure soft way...
Under Linux, all I manage, for example under 2.3.23 is to have the files:

There was an anonymous post yesterday evening that contained code for a
software player written for Windows NT. The gut of it came from the CSS
disk unlocking code we have had for a while. There is talk about someone
porting it over to Linux, so we may see something shortly.
There is also another player for unencrypted DVD's called nist.
