TiVO Personal TV Service now available on Sony Digital Network Recorders
SAN JOSE, CA --May 16, 2000 -TiVo Inc (NASDAQ: TIVO), the creator of personal television today announced the availability of the TiVo Personal TVTM Service on the Sony Digital Network RecorderTM (SVR-2000). Anticipated by consumers and retailers since its preview at the Consumer Electronics Show in January 2000, the Sony recorder with TiVo service is being rolled out to retail outlets across the country. National availability is expected by the end of May.
The estimated selling price of the 30 hour Sony Digital Network Recorder is $399. Consumers who purchase the Sony recorder will benefit from TiVo's flexible service pricing. A lifetime subscription to the TiVo service without monthly fees can be purchased with a single payment of $199. For customers who want to keep their up front costs to a minimum, a monthly subscription to the TiVo service is available for $9.95.

The Sony SVR-2000 digitally records up to 30 hours of programming without videotape.
By employing hard disk technology, the new network recorder enables consumers to
play, pause, fast forward or rewind "live" television broadcasts as they are being
watched. It is designed to work with standard definition terrestrial broadcasts,
as well as digital satellite systems and cable programming services.
National and regional retailers are expected to carry the Sony recorder, including Circuit City, Best Buy and Sears.
