APPLE HADN'T PLANNED TO INTRODUCE THE UPGRADED MACINTOSH UNTIL EARLY NEXT YEAR, BECAUSE OF ANTICIPATED DIFFICULTIES TO LINE UP CHIPS TO POWER IT, THE COMPANY SAID. BUT APPLE FOUND THEM AT A VARIETY OF SOURCES, PRIMARILY JAPANESE.
